They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
In Tral, two gunnies were bumped off, while in Shopian, three were rubbed out.

The encounter in Shopian is still underway and two gunnies are hiding inside a Mosque.

It is suspected that the chief of the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (JeM)

[OneIndia] The chief of the al-Qaeda affiliated terror outfit Ansar Gazwat ul Hind were among the 7 hard boyz killed in two separate encounters in Kashmir on Friday.

Five bad boyz were potted in an overnight encounter at a Mosque in Shopian, the police said. The AGH chief Imtiyaz Shah was killed in another encounter along with another terrorist in an orchard in Tral.

With these two encounters, the number of hard boyz killed in Jammu and Kashmir in 2021 stands at 31 of which 28 were from the the South Kashmir region. Data shows that 138 hard boyz have been arrested in 2021.

Out of the five killed in Shopian, two were from the Hizbul Mujahideen

In the morning, we sent his parents, but he still refused to surrender, Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Zone), Vijay Kumar told news hounds.

After his refusal to surrender, the forces resorted to tear smoke shelling inside the Mosque and fired through the window trying not to damage the Mosque. Three civilians and at least four security personnel were maimed, Kumar said.

#2 Update added to the article with my thanks, Dron — this way it will be searchable later. No doubt Personnel will be reaching down into the ranks of their junior executives for the next one, at the rate you lot are cleaning out the executive suite. They’ve each only just had time to figure out where the executive washroom is located before they found themselves facing the Throne of Judgement.

#1 Lelhari was the chief only until winter of 2019, TW, when he too went to Allan, courtesy of a 40mm grenade. His successor was an Imtiaz Ahmad Shah. The job is now again open to losers wishing to apply.
