Chauvin Trial Bombshell: ‘I Ate Too Many Drugs'
2021-04-09
[NR] Prosecutors at Derek Chauvin’s murder trial in Minneapolis seemed jolted Wednesday when one of their most important witnesses initially testified that during George Floyd’s detention by police, while he appeared to be in fear for his life, Floyd stated, "I ate too many drugs." Floyd, who was later pronounced dead, could be heard speaking on an audio/visual recording. The witness, Agent James Reyerson of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, acknowledged during cross-examination by Chauvin’s counsel, Eric Nelson, that he could hear Floyd say, "I ate too many drugs."

It was clear that prosecutors were taken aback by this testimony. On re-direct examination, prosecutor Matthew Frank pressed Reyerson, who was the lead investigator in the probe of Floyd’s death, whether he’d ever carefully reviewed the audio before Nelson asked him to do it on cross. Reyerson said he had not. Then, after a break when he would have had an opportunity to meet with prosecutors, the witness abruptly reversed course. Under further questioning by Frank, Reyerson claimed, upon further review, that he now believes Floyd actually said, "I ain’t do no drugs."

#6   A sure outcome of this trial is more riots and arson in metro areas, no matter what else happens in the courtroom. Count on it.

#5  'over' ... cover...

#4  The jury has been given enough 'over' to convict: Chauvin's chain of command testified that he used excessive force and it was unacceptable, and a medical expert has testified that Floyd died of suffocation, due to the hold. The jury can believe that or the alternative expert testimony (Chauvin's hold was standard, trained practice and Floyd died of suffocation due to drugs), but they are likely to vote guilty, with the expectation that if they are wrong an appeals court will correct them. Wrong, but that's what I expect they will do.

#3  He's not toast. This is like the Zimmerman trial all over again: the defense is destroying the prosecution, showing clearly that their client did nothing wrong.

We haven't even heard the defenses witnesses, and already the prosecution's case has fallen apart.

They've done nothing at all to overcome presumption of innocence and reasonable doubt that 140-lb. Chauvin's knee on the shoulders and back of 6 1/2 foot tall 230-lb. Floyd killed him instead of the massive fentanyl-meth cocktail that Floyd ingested.

The toxicology report -- which hasn't yet been discussed for the jury -- makes the cause of death crystal(meth)-clear. The trial has been a disaster for the prosecution.

#2  Maybe after conviction and riots, some judge will finally overturn the decision. A Trump judge. More riots.

#1  Chauvin is toast. The Mob has declared he is guilty of killing St. Floyd so actual evidence and truth doesn't matter. If he were to be found innocent the mob has stated cities will burn. Welcome to "Mob justice", something we will probably see more of.
