Sen. Joe Manchin pledges support for the filibuster in new op-ed |

[NYPOST] West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin has pledged that under "no circumstance" will he vote to eliminate the filibuster amid a push by his other members of his party to reform the rule."I have said it before and will say it again to remove any shred of doubt," Manchin, a moderate, wrote in a op-ed published in The Washington Post on Wednesday. "There is no circumstance in which I will vote to eliminate or weaken the filibuster," he wrote. "The time has come to end these political games, and to usher a new era of bipartisanship where we find common ground on the major policy debates facing our nation." Progressive Democrats in the Upper Chamber have been leading a push to abolish the filibuster in order to more easily pass the party’s more ambitious legislative proposals.
