At least eight people have been reported killed and close to 60 people are injured in an Explosion in Herat province.

The blast occurred near a police outpost in PD14 capital of Herat on Friday evening, Waheed Qatali, provincial governor told media.

Seven of the killed in the earth-shattering kaboom are civilians, and more than a dozen houses were damaged in the earth-shattering kaboom which happened near a residential place.

Women, children, and civilians are most of the blast’s victims, according to reports.

No group or individual have grabbed credit for the attack.

Update from Al Ahram at 3:50 p.m. (everyone seems interested in this story, for some reason):
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the blast in Herat had no links to their group.

However, the group's insurgents are active in the western province and have carried out recent attacks against Afghan government forces.
