Police uncover ‘possible plot' by militia to breach Capitol

WASHINGTON (AP) — Capitol Police say they have uncovered intelligence of a "possible plot" by a militia group to breach the U.S. Capitol on Thursday, nearly two months after a mob of supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the iconic building to try to stop Congress from certifying now-President Joe Biden’s victory.

The threat appears to be connected to a far-right conspiracy theory, mainly promoted by supporters of QAnon, that Trump will rise again to power on March 4. That was the original presidential inauguration day until 1933, when it was moved to Jan. 20.

Online chatter identified by authorities included discussions among members of the Three Percenters, an anti-government militia group, concerning possible plots against the Capitol on Thursday, according to two law enforcement officials who were not authorized to speak publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. Members of the Three Percenters were among the extremists who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6.

The announcement comes as the Capitol police and other law enforcement agencies are taking heat from Congress in contentious hearings this week on their handling of the Jan. 6 riot. Police were ill-prepared for the mass of Trump supporters in tactical gear, some armed, and it took hours for National Guard reinforcements to come. By then, rioters had broken and smashed their way into the building and roamed the halls for hours, stalling Congress’ certification effort temporarily and sending lawmakers into hiding.

#16  IMO a ten mile strip off coastal California up to and including San Francisco should be returned to Mexico. New England should be given to the UK. Hawaii should be returned to territorial status or given the same autonomy as Samoa. The political center of the US government should be located near the center of the US. DC should be given back to Maryland and Virginia.

#14  Some of the intel they have shared is off 4chan and other boards, along with twitter. Most of these people are sitting in mom's basement being trolls. No real actionable intel I have seen and the possibility this is Antifa or government actors to bring a false flag is high, IMHO.

Ques: You have stated that you had indications and warnings (I&W) of trouble brewing from certain dissident or anarchist factions traveling to the capital. Why did you not act on that I&W and report your findings at all levels of gov't ?

Intelligence Analyst: "Yes, we observed the events, but could not ascertain intent." (Her response as listed here, pretty much word-for-word.)

Intent? You decide:

(a.) Early Tidal Basin cherry blossom visit ?
(b.) Rolling Thunder bike run advance team ?
(c.) Holocaust Museum tour group ?
(d.) Trump rally shi* disturbers ?

I believe we all know what took place on 6 January and for what purpose.

#4  Notable: in the Jan 6 arrests, not a single firearm was seized, and the only firearms used were in the murder of one protester.

Trying to blame the III percenters. The real threats have gone to encrypted communications by now, so this is just sensationalist garbage to continue to generate a false threat for maintaining the whole "crisis to take advantage of" in DC.
