Turkish warbirds hammer targets in Qupi Sardaran |
2021-02-25 |
SULAIMANI — Turkish warplanes hit targets in Qupi Sardaran near Warte sub-district and the Qandil Mountains on Wednesday (February 24). A local resident told NRT that the bombs fell near a livestock pen. There were no immediate reports of causalities. Turkey regularly carries out cross-border operations in northern Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, justifying its actions as necessary to combat the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which has waged a decades-long insurgency for Kurdish rights in Turkey’s southeast and has its headquarters in Qandil. At least twelve civilians were killed in Turkish airstrikes during Operation Claw-Eagle 1, which was launched in June. (NRT Digital Media) |
