| Support Growing For Open Carry Legislation In South Carolina |

| [BA] South Carolina’s gun laws are pretty good, so it’s surprising that open carry is banned in the state. In fact, South Carolina is just one of five states to completely bar the open carrying of handguns, along with California; Illinois; New York; and Florida (another outlier when it comes to open carry laws). The right-to-carry revolution has come to the Palmetto State, however, and dozens of representatives are supporting a change to state law that would be a small but significant step in the right direction. |

| #1 ...The no-open-carry is something of a hangover from Reconstruction and the Jim Crow days, and frankly, even with the best of intentions that stuff is hard to shake. However, there is now a LOT of support for OC, and I would not be surprised to see this signed into law in there very near future. We didn't have the same problems Certain Other Places (TM) had this last summer because of CC and a forceful law enforcement presence - OC will go a long way towards keeping it that way. Mike |
