#11  Well USA is a totalitarian country concerning what citizens make outside it.
I am surprised there aren't many more.

#10  They'll still vote Democrat, amirite?

#9  I would agree wholeheartedly with #7. It is probably all about taxes. The US is also one the very few countries in the world (I believe North Korea is another) that taxes foreign-earned income. You may remember the US actually went after Boris Johnson several years ago for unpaid taxes for the misfortune of being born in Nueva York Ciudad (father Stanley said to be just like papa Bill Gates,
hence BoJo's marching in step with the Build Back Better gang, but I digress).

#8  Tell me how many were Dual-Citizenship (US-Other) first.

#7  Prolly 90% due to the IRS's cynically-named traps, "FATCA" (the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) and "FBAR" (like FUBAR, hoho - get it?).

FATCA was passed in 2010. Before FATCA, the annual number of renunciations of US citizenship was no more than a hundred or so; it soared into the thousands thereafter and has climbed every year since.

#6  I'd move to a fucking jungle hut to get away from hearing about covid and all the political bullshit 24/7.

#5  But I'd be interested to know where they're going.

I'd guess Pennsylvania where they could live tax free, get a gov check, a driver's license, and vote as much as they want.

#4  And Press Release Newswire is in the business of broadcasting news releases from minor special interest groups. I learnt that the hard way, too.

#3  Worldometers estimates there are 332,082,117 of us as of late January. The number who left are well within rounding error.

#2  6,705 is not a lot of people. But I'd be interested to know where they're going.

#1  Yes, yes, and the lamestream media will regularly trot out America hating expats as being so much smarter, more cosmopolitan, that the proles and rubes who choose to remain Americans in America.

As predictable as the sun coming up or water flowing downhill.
