'Don't back down': Tulsi Gabbard tells Trump he has her full support in terminating Section 230
2020-12-04
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] President Trump has Democratic Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard’s full support in terminating Section 230."@realDonaldTrump I fully support you on this. Please don’t back down. The freedom and future of our country is at stake," Gabbard tweeted Thursday.

The tweet came in response to Trump's writing, "Section 230, which is a liability shielding gift from the U.S. to ’Big Tech’ (the only companies in America that have it - corporate welfare!), is a serious threat to our National Security & Election Integrity. Our Country can never be safe & secure if we allow it to stand."

"Therefore, if the very dangerous & unfair Section 230 is not completely terminated as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), I will be forced to unequivocally VETO the Bill when sent to the very beautiful Resolute desk. Take back America NOW. Thank you!" he continued.

Trump and his allies have railed against Big Tech censorship, saying platforms such as Twitter and Facebook censor conservative voices and views. Since the election, Trump’s criticisms of technology firms have increased as Twitter and Facebook repeatedly flag his posts concerning election fraud.

#1  I concur with this libertarian's take on the issue.

Total abolition of 230 will destroy nascent free-speech alt-tech competitors like Bitchute/Parler/Gab while the big platforms have the resources to openly exert editorial control.

It would be better to strip those who exert de facto editorial control of all 230 protections while maintaining 230 for platforms that only offer communications infrastructure.
