[MedicalXpress] 'Foreign disinformation' social media campaigns are linked to falling vaccination rates, reveals an international time trends analysis, published in the online journal BMJ Global Health.

Every 1 point increase in effort is tied to an average 2% drop in annual coverage around the globe, and a 15% increase in the number of negative tweets about vaccination, shows the study, which forms part of a BMJ Collection on Democracy and Health published for the World Health Summit this weekend.

Last year, the World Health Organization (WHO) listed vaccine hesitancy—reluctance or refusal to be vaccinated because of safety concerns—-as one of the top 10 threats to world health.

#3  Considering the lack of danger from COVID for anyone with a functional immune system ages < 50 I can't see takeup of any vaccine being high enough.

Probably safer to catch it than the vaccine.

#2  I've always felt anti-vaxxers are misguided. That said, there is no such thing as a 100% safe vaccine, or any other medication for that matter. That said, if the COVID-19 vaccine is any worse side-effects or efficacy wise than vaccines people more or less trust, there are going to be big problems after that, problems that could probably be avoided by not cutting corners with testing or rushing any vaccine out because political pressure and media hysteria about COVID.
