#14 #13 As the saying goes"The process is the punishment." See Mike Flynn. And given the thorough corruption of the legal system, I'm not sure they couldn't get a conviction on the first pass. And appeals are expensive. |

#12 the mayor is also a Republican the county attorney is a Democrat Jake Gardner served two tours of duty in Iraq I don't know what kind of evidence went to the Grand Jury but we all know that given the rules of the Grand Jury, it is easy to get an indictment if you really want one. There is a lot about this case that doesn't make sense. |

#10 The local DA ruled according to evidence. Political pressure was brought to bear - and a grand jury empaneled. Which raises the question: Who brought that pressure? Nebraska is a Red state with a GOP gov and AG. Apparently, even federalism and living in a Red state won't be enough to save you if the right people want your head on a stick. Someone tell me how elections are going to solve this problem. |

#9 *Sigh* Yes, it happens. Many years ago I was talking to someone that told me he took knife fighting lessons (in case of a prison sentence) when he was charged. Another person hanged himself. People respond in different ways to stress. |

#8 In a fair world, the DA and the grand jury would be hung outside the courthouse. |

#5 I hope ensuring Rittenhouse's immediate physical safety is the prime concern of his lawyers. Making an example of Rittenhouse by "accident" or "suicide" would be in the interest of powerful political players. |

#1 Bar and restaurant industry employees have been fighting for their lives during the pandemic and then BLM shows up to tear up the place and beat the crap out of you. The population that voted in the Dims now indict a self defender, some young hard working people are on the ropes in those areas. |
