'Grossly false': Romney throws cold water on claim he won't vote on SCOTUS nominee until next year
2020-09-20
[BIZPACREVIEW] Sen. Willard Mitt Romney, aka Pierre Delecto
...former governor of Massachussetts, the Publican nominee for president in 2012, now Senator from Utah. He is the son of the former governor of Michigan, George Romney, who himself ran for president after saving American Motors from failure, though not permanently. Romney has a record as a successful businessman, heading Bain Capital, and he rescued the 2002 Winter Olympics from the midst of bribery and mismanagement scandals. He is currently a trans Republican and a member in good standing of the Never Trump Party, attempting to assume the mantle of the late John McCain...
’s spokesperson pushed back against claims that the Republican was "committed" to not confirming a new Supreme Court Justice until 2021.

News of the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Friday sparked immediate panic in liberal America and, with meltdowns over filling her vacant seat on the high court, eyes turned to politicians who would be part of the confirmation process. But reports that Romney had taken a stand against voting on a nominee before the election turned out to be "fake news."

The liberal call to action to oppose any Supreme Court nominations by President Trump, though it is his duty to fill the vacancy left by Ginsburg, sparked a flurry of social media responses claiming certain senators had indicated they would not vote before Inauguration Day 2021 if he moved ahead.

#15  Trump should quote RBG/Obama/Biden’s wisdom about it being their job to push forward during an election year.

#14  Pierre's logic is simple.

If I can advance my interests - money above all, political power as well - without hurting Trump, then advance my interests.

If advancing those interests requires hurting Trump, then I will hurt Trump - unless he can hurt me, by reducing my ability to add to my fortune or stymie my political career.

Based on the above, Pierre's likely path will be to delay as much as possible and see where Trump stands on Nov. 4. If Trump wins handily, Pierre will tie the line. If Trump does not win handily, he'll pull his "maverick" BS and become a de facto (Delecto?) Independent.

In short he'll blow with the prevailing political winds and delay, delay, delay.

#13  Mitt is all about being noticed and displaying a high moral sense above all things, despite much of that being hubris.
I suspect he is signaling willingness to be a team player and present Mitch with a seeming pathway to confirmation. But as has been stated, on the national stage, he will remember he hates Trump and will be the scorpion again claiming divine guidance after prayer and revelation that decency cannot be ignored or some such drivel. Do not trust him!

#12  Pierre not as popular as Trump in Utah

#11  Well, everything else about him is grossly false so why not this as well.

#9  He knows his job is on the line. Still, in the end he’s still a scorpion.

#8  OK, so he'll vote. But how will he vote?

#7  @Pro -- Indeed, I thought about that, too. Quite strange.

#6   What happens if a justice dies during or retires in an election year.

During the 2000 Gore vs. Bush election, recall that SCOTUS decided the election outcome as the result of the manufactured "hanging chad" brouhaha. In today's climate, this would be Hanging Chad X 1000 of created chaos.

#5  ...but strangely, never on the other side of the aisle.

#4  Seems like there always has to be a jerk McCain-like "maverick".

#3  Sort of found you like being a Senator? How are the polls in Utah?
Posted by: Procopius2k   2020-09-20 08:03

#2  Of course he won't pass up a chance to vote against Trump this year...

#1  Redeem yourself, Pierre. Before you get caught in flagrante Delecto yet again
