Minnesota Dem slams Ilhan Omar, says she 'doesn't belong in our party'
2020-09-18
[NYPOST] Firebrand Rep. Ilhan Omar
...Somali-American Dem representative from Minnesota. She was apparently married to her brother and may be her own grandmaw on her mother's side...
of Minnesota appears to be rubbing some of her fellow Democrats the wrong way — with one of them declaring she shouldn’t even be in the party.

In a video obtained by The Post, fellow Minnesota Rep. Collin Peterson torched the scandal-scarred progressive politician after previously defending her controversial "Some people did something" remarks about 9/11.

"Do you have any comment as to why you defended Ilhan Omar?" an employee with the National Republican Congressional Committee asked Peterson on Capitol Hill on Thursday.

"I don’t defend her. She doesn’t belong in our party," the 16-term politician responded.

When asked to clarify himself, a COVID-19-masked Peterson repeated, "She doesn’t belong in our party," as he walked away.

Omar won a competitive primary fight in her downtown Minneapolis district by a landslide last month, but Peterson is facing a tough re-election battle in his increasingly red rural Minnesota district.

The Gopher State representatives are both members of the Minnesota Democratic—Farmer—Labor Party and have voted together on issues like police reform in the past.

It’s unclear why Omar and Peterson have fallen out but his remarks may be an attempt to distance himself from the progressive left flank of his party as he braces for a brutal challenge from GOP candidate, former Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Michelle Fischbach.

In a TV interview last April, Peterson tried to defend the Somali-born politician’s comments on the Sept. 11 terror attacks, saying: "I think she was trying to say that some people in her community feel like they’re being targeted."

#4  She might not legally belong in the country.

#3  Peterson is the long-term incumbent from my (very rural) district. He's held on thru an NRA A+ rating and support for Agriculture. OTOH, since he voted for the bill that allows biological males to use the girls' room, so he may be in for a surprise.

#2  Actually, you don't belong in her party. If you haven't notice, they left you. Long time past you and the Never-Trumpers form the Liberal Party of whom you really are.
