#1 The Hezbollah was an Iranian creation beholding to the Ayatollah Khomeini himself. It was designed to spread his revolution to Shiites outside of Iran and administered by Iran's youthful Pasdaran - Revolutionary Guards -- who supported Khomeini without stint. The Pasdaran emerged in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon in June 1982 where its Hamza and Ansar divisions were seen working with the Syrian military in building an "army" peopled by indigenous Lebanese zealots. That project was directed from Iran by the Hojatolislam Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani. Nearly forty years later the Hamza is still around in various forms in various places. |
