Green Bay Police: Antifa Member with Flamethrower Cried in Fetal Position When Caught
2020-09-02
[Breitbart] A suspected member of Antifa — who was allegedly armed with a flamethrower — cried in the fetal position before his arrest during a Saturday evening protest in Green Bay, Wisconsin, according to law enforcement.

WBAY reports;

Matthew Banta, 23, is charged with obstructing an officer and two counts of felony bail jumping.

The criminal complaint says Banta "is known to be a violent Antifa member who incites violence in otherwise relatively peaceful protests." Police say he’s known as "Commander Red."

A responding officer says he saw four individuals walking towards a protest with baseball bats. One man was wearing a metal helmet with goggles and military-style gear with multiple pouches, and was carrying an Antifa flag. When the officer pulled his squad car in front of the group, they ran away. The officer caught Banta, who was carrying the flag, and says Banta "dropped into the fetal position and began crying."

"It’s worrisome when people associated with Antifa come here to Green Bay from out of town for the purpose of protesting here or for the purposes of committing violent acts," said Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith.

"An unlawful assembly is three or more people who gather in such a manner where property damage, or personal injury is likely to occur," Smith added. "We determined this was happening on Washington Street. What was happening was a large group of people had blocked traffic on the street had engaged in throwing a bottle at somebody, were pulling up manhole covers off the street and were blocking traffic."

Police said 15 protesters were arrested after the demonstration was declared unlawful.

In early August, Banta was charged with biting, kicking, and pointing firearm at a police officer at a protest in Waupaca.

#13  I don't understand why the flamethrower wasn't tested on him.

#11  I don't think the term is Framing the Conversation, but essentially it is.

Part of it is some classic Pallywood Propaganda. The other part is if said person goes to trial, especially a jury trial, the video might help sway a jurist. Like Mullah Richard said, a meterball flop intended to garnish sympathy.

Remember that professional agitator up in Buffalo who took that really weird, unnatural fall and bonked his head on the pavement?

Or saying, or even yelling I Can't Breath; anyone who has been in a choking and/or compressed chest experience will tell you that a patient might be able to get out a whimper, might, but nowhere near a normal volume and annunciation.

So when his case is presented, he is presented as some poor pillsbury doughboy who decided to get out of his momma's basement to exercise his right to free speech and assembly and got jumped by a bunch of amped up jackboot thugs, instead of a trained grenadier with a proven violent history.

#10  What are the odds this guy rolls over and gives up names?

Give him a sports mouthpiece as a friendly gesture during questioning and indicate cons often bust out the teeth and take advantage of newbies...

#9  That no one seemed to have touched him would be called a 'flopper' in soccer.

#8  TW, that's been a taught tactic for a long time.

Just like the Bully crying "UNCLE" when his victim fights back.

I think I've seen that face on a package of suet.

#7  That seems to be what their training reflects, TW.

#6   Where did the flamethrower get mention?

Woodrow, look at the first sentence of the article. That information is not reflected in the quote from WBAY, the local Green Bay television station, but going to the WBAY article yields:

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A Neenah man had a flamethrower, smoke grenades and fireworks during a demonstration in Green Bay Saturday night, according to police and prosecutors.

Matthew Banta, 23, is charged with obstructing an officer and two counts of felony bail jumping.

Given that no one had touched him, I wonder was the dropping down crying thingy a planned response to make the police look bad on video?

#5  Sorry for the repeat.

One of the problems with the current Wuhan pandemic is that court cases (especially sentencing) are being delayed well beyond the norm.

Hope he gets immediately locked up this time.

Sounds like a DNC convention.
