White Male Executives Fired First at Chevron because they're white men? |

[Independent Sentinel] Change your name and pretend you’re a minority if you want a management job at Chevron or if you want to keep your job. At least, it seems that way. The company will rehire with the goal of increasing the percentages of women and minorities. Reuters reports, Oil major Chevron Corp (CVX.N) expects to reduce the dominance of white males in company management during cost-cutting this year, upping the share of senior-level jobs held by women and ethnic minorities to 44% from 38% last year, the company said in a statement. |

#10 Very much so, out of the four people with my last job in the world, they kept the 22 year old girl who was the least qualified, and the office suck up. Laid off one married white guy and me, white guy with kids, with the most time with the company. |

#9 Worked there for decades. This is nothing new. OTOH, at least the ones they kept were competent in the recent cycles. Not mentioned is the age discrimination component of the cyclical layoffs, which is present in all the Big Oils, probably necessary for corporate good long term, but still unfair to those purged. (Sort of like the military 'up or out' policy.) |
