Why Palestinians can’t sign an end-of-conflict pact
2020-07-19
[Jpost] Paleostinian Arabs cannot sign an agreement that ends all claims and recognizes the right of a Jewish state to exist and live unmolested on land that was ever Moslem.

According to the usual international peace negotiators, everyone knows the end game to resolve the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict, exactly what each party must concede for a final treaty. They say all that is needed is for Israel to withdraw to the 1967 lines with minor adjustments, with east Jerusalem as the capital of the new Paleostinian state. If only Israel offered that, peace would reign.

But diplomats twist themselves into knots, finding ways to rationalize Paleostinian intransigence, trying to explain away the fact that all those concessions were already offered to the Paleostinian Authority in 2001 and 2008 and were soundly rejected. In 2008 the Israelis offered 94% of the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) with land swaps to make up for the 6%, east Jerusalem as the capital of a Paleostinian state, while Israel even conceded giving up exclusive illusory sovereignty of the Temple Mount, the Mount of Olives, and the City of David, not to mention billions in international investment in a new Paleostinian state. The Paleostinians only had to give up the right of return, sign "an end-of-conflict and end-of-claims" agreement for perpetuity and be demilitarized.

#4  Well said, gentlemen. One point, only: the refugee camps converted from tent cities to real cities — if somewhat slapdash, because no government regulates them — ages ago, with permanent houses, electricity, plumbing and running water, shops... all the usual city stuff.

#3  There is another reason as well why there can be no peace treaty acceptable to the Palestinian Government. Recall that the PLO was formed and operated among "Palestinian Refugees" and not among current residents of Palestine. It was a corrupt and violent organization and it was utter folly to give Arafat and it control of Arab part of Palestine. The new rulers had no interest in the needs and wants of the inhabitants, and were a terrible disappointment to them. They continue to represent the "refugees" first and the people on the ground last.
Recall that the UN relief organization gave the "refugees" free room board education and everything else they needed, for them and their descendants until there is a peace agreement.
Because of this the host countries of Syria and Lebanon have confined the refugees in camps, not permitted them to be citizens or to work outside the camps.
If a peace agreement were signed, the UN's role would be over, and the "refugees" would be left high and dry, with no home at all.
This is why they continue to want to come to Israel.
ALL this has been caused by the shockingly irresponsible and stupid UN organization. If Israel wants peace it has to think of and take steps to bring about a way for these people to become citizens of somewhere where they can begin to engage in normal lives. IF some such thing can come about, it can become possible for the Palestine Authorities to make peace, but not before that.

#2  Why Palestinians can’t sign an end-of-conflict pact

For the same reason FIFA can't get out of soccer business.

#1  Just like with the refugee issue, if it is not completely spelled out, no matter what agreement is signed, Paleostinians will always have a pretext to say Israel stole Paleostinian land with land swaps, and once again, preach and prepare for a new war.

It doesn't matter if it IS completely sspelled out . They love and need the conflict to cover for their own corruption and failiure
