British London 2012 Olympians were used as guinea pigs for Special Forces 'wonder drug' but 40 per cent of those who used the supplement ended up with side-effects... including vomiting!

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • 91 British athletes were used to test an experimental ketone ester drink called DeltaG for US Special Forces

  • The project cost hundreds of thousands of pounds of the public money

  • There were no guarantees the experiment wouldn't breach anti-doping laws

  • A percentage of those who tried the drug ended up with adverse side-effects

#7  Who knew the East Germans were over a half a century ahead of everyone else for trans athletes.

#6  Not that I care anymore about the Olympics, it just does seem odd that there was state-implementation of a 'wonder drug' or any additive to enhance performance.

But, yeah, the DDR took "the gold" when it came to doping. Just ask Johanna Johann.

#5  Not sure Ketones are anything special.

It's like a backup fuel for when the glucose runs out...

Cant think it would do anything useful though if you also have sugars though, may even be harmful to performance.

Endogenous ketones are sold in health food shops for people doing low carb diets.

#4  When it comes to doping up athletes, no one could hold a candle to East Germany.
