John Durham May ‘Punt' On Obama-Gate Investigation Until After the Election
2020-07-10
[Red State] For the sake of the Republican party, this better not be true, though there’s reason to believe it might be. We’ll do a little reading between the lines in a second.

A new report from Fox News is claiming that John Durham may be looking to "punt" the end of his investigation beyond the November election.
Two sources familiar with Durham’s investigation told Fox News this week that Durham is working expeditiously to try to finish the probe by the end of summer, but that several lines of investigation are not yet complete.

"He believes it’s critical to do them," one source said. "He is feeling more pressure to get this done and wrapped up."

The source also told Fox News that Durham "does not want this to be viewed political," and the closer it gets to November, Durham could "punt it to after the election."
On its face, this doesn’t seem very definitive to me. But I have worried that the DOJ may move to not release their findings in order to not "interfere" with the election. While that may seem ludicrous to those of us that have watched this unfold for years, don’t underestimate the pressure of bureaucratic decorum. Durham is not a partisan, he’s a careerist, and if he feels his work may be overly politicized, he may seek to protect it.

Julie Kelly, who’s been focused on this issue like a laser beam, responded this morning and appears to believe there’s some truth to it.

AG Barr reported on Fox yesterday that he "didn't know precisely where Durham was with the investigation, was not aware of a timeline, hadn't spoken to Durham lately, hadn't been following it" etc. (paraphrasing) A strange admission of lack of knowledge from a man alleged to be 'a brilliant legal mind' and top DoJ official. His statement was not exactly reassuring to say the least. Strange, very strange.

#14  SDNY will surely protect the bankers, though.

#13  Who would be prosecuting the Epstein/Maxwell, et. al. crimes (child-trafficking and other crimes against humanity)? Is it the Southern District of NY? Not a lot of confidence in the SDONY.

#12  I sympathize with Durham.

There were many, many convoluted schemes, some merely unethical, some criminal, some in grey areas.

And the people who were scheming have used every means possible to delay, to deceive, to mislead and, failing that, to fail to recollect.

#11   Two sources familiar with Durham’s investigation

While I admit to being more than normally gullible, my first thought when I see unnamed, anonymous sources is whether this really comes from the inner circle or if this is Deep Staters making stuff up to cause trouble. Or even fake news fed to potential leakers to see who is leaking. Fox News is only less unfriendly to the Trump administration, now that the sons are in charge, which is not the same as actually friendly.

#9  Barr and Durham have one chance to do it right. Meanwhile we have been burning time by the ton.

#7  A new report from Fox News...

I'll wait till the appropriate parties say anything.

#6  Quite frankly, only the disillusioned or naïve actually believe something will come out of this. It is all blah blah blah that gives Fox pundits and windbag former & current elected officials to talk about. And that's all it is: talk/blather.

#3  Even if indicted, DoJ lawyers will purposely F up any prosecutions farmed out to them.

#2  Why did I think of the pic below?

Donald Trump issued a stark warning to his supporters on Twitter hours after he was impeached in the House

Ah, I know why.

#1  And if the Orange Man is defeated, none of this unpleasantness will ever see the light of day.

If you thought this was the original plan, you're probably correct. Delay, deny, obfuscate, a somewhat familiar pattern.
