Portland: Riots Resume, Governor Chastises the Police
2020-07-05
Andy Ngo's Twitter account is the ground truth, but here is what the Oregonian is trying to sell.
Gov. Kate Brown on Friday urged the Portland Police Bureau to de-escalate nightly tensions with a group of protesters that she said have "repeatedly taken to the streets with the intent to destroy property."

While she noted that "this group has repeatedly lit fires, thrown rocks, bottles, fireworks and other objects and have put the safety of others at risk," Brown said the police response has gone too far.

#13  Too masculine to be ISIS.

#12  Looks a lot like ISIS marching

#11  This is not that difficult. This is not a police situation. Police who are easy targets are easily identifiable by the mob being attacked by the leftist militia with faces hidden from view. A domestic clandestine guerilla element needs to be estaalished to counter this militant insurgency in unorthodoxed ways.

#10  And abolish DAs and states' attorneys general and their apparatus.

Of course, those things exist to keep us in line, so it won't happen.

#9  I'd go a step further. If the state isn't going to police crime anymore, abolish the criminal courts.

#8  Just enact a Defunded Police Zone in a 5 mile radius surrounding the Governor and Portland Mayor.

#7  ^That too.

#6  Darth, and the governor's Praetorian Guard protective detail should be called away to assist in riot control.

#5  The police should just state they won't respond to calls to stop it and they won't respond to calls in the neighborhood the Governor lives.

#4  If the 'peaceful protesters' allow the rioters and looters in their 'peaceful protest', then it is *not* a peaceful protest and they are not 'peaceful protesters'.

#3  I don't think it will be long before property loss "due to law enforcement stand-down" will not be covered in most property insurance policies, or if it is covered it will be only via an added-cost rider to the standard policy.

#2  These riots will probably continue on until election time unless something/somebody intervenes to break things loose. The problem is that those prone to violence, looting and arson piggy-back onto peaceful protests. This is a tactic that has been used for a long time by extremists.

#1  Oddly, neither Governor Brown nor Mayor Wheeler has appeared at the scene of the "protests" to calm things down. Leadership from the command post twenty miles behind the lines.
