FedEx asks Washington Redskins to change its offensive name and logo
2020-07-04
  • [Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] The Washington Redskins are facing a growing pressure to rebrand as its name and symbol has long been offensive toward Native Americans

  • FedEx said Thursday it had requested the team change its name

  • The Memphis-based shipping giant is the title sponsor of the Redskins's stadium

  • Nike has made no statement over the matter but has silently scrapped all merchandise bearing the team's name or symbol from its online store

  • Past efforts to change the name have failed but pressure is building amid civil unrest following the 'murder' of black man George Floyd by a white cop

  • UPDATE: The Redskins released a statement Friday saying they're considering a name change, and will seek input from team alumni, sponsors, and local citizens

#12  The goal is to erase all minorities from public spaces, as the "woke" left cannot stand seeing them.

#9  Id like to see FedEx focus on delivering packages on time.

Their quality control has gone to hell.

Shareholders take note.

#8  1) They've been trying to change the name of the Redskins for a while; Snyder has yet to bend over. Will be interesting to see what he does now that they've turned the outrage amps up to eleven.

2) IIRC there was a poll (native Americans only) on this very issue; there was overwhelming opinion to keep the name.

#7  Don't think Cleveland Darkies is gonna make it. Seattle Twinks might.

#6  @#4 - Exactly. If there were thousands of Native Americans protesting in the streets of DC & Cleveland, then that's one thing. But we know there aren't. Not even remotely close.

#5  Other than plague years, Albuquerque holds a Native American event, the Gathering of Nations. You tend to see participants wearing Washington and Cleveland paraphernalia with the logos.

#4  Anybody ask any natives what their opinion was on this topic?

#3  You First! Tell FedEx that "If FedEx changes all of its's logos, repaints all its vehicles and changes all stationary, Then they will change the Redskin logo." We are talking about a serious investment in the logo and everybody wants the NFL team to eat the loss for free -- because The feelz!

#2  Cleveland Indians are probably next. With that limp Richard owner there, surprised it hadn't happened already. Chief Wahoo is already gone.

#1  Local citizens and alumni should be enough support to keep the name. Snider should tell FedEx to take a hike. They can easily get another sponsor if they wanted.
