Occupy 2.0: Nashville Trying to Set Up the Next Radical Autonomous Zone, Portland’s Fails
2020-06-13
[RedState]

But Republican Gov. Bill Lee is not Washington Governor Jay Inslee, he was having none of that. He issued a warning today that Tennessee would not tolerate such a “zone.”

From Tennessean:

“We encourage Tennesseans to exercise their First Amendment rights and have seen many examples of peaceful protests across our state in recent weeks,” Lee said in a statement midday Friday. “As demonstrations continue, we will continue to protect Tennesseans’ right to peaceful assembly, while also reassuring citizens that lawlessness, autonomous zones, and violence will not be tolerated.

“Further, Tennessee law expressly prohibits camping on state property not expressly designated as a campground area, and that law will be enforced.”

The General Assembly in February 2012 passed the law after Occupy Nashville protesters set up a campsite at Legislative Plaza, making it a misdemeanor to do so.

It’s unclear who’s involved, but police said they were prepared.

Kris Mumford, a spokeswoman for the Metro Nashville Police Department, said police were aware of the plans, have reached out to THP and Central Precinct officers will be monitoring the situation “should it enter into the streets or require our involvement.”

The graphic told people to bring food, tents and other camping gear, as well as art and musical instruments. It also said they demanded defunding of the police and removing of all “racist statues.”

They already have a couple of tents up.

#21  Thanks for the tip, but earlier I was on a mobile device, and now I'm on my desktop, and I still can't read it as the site wants me to provide a e-mail address (which I do not want to do).

I'll look for this "reader view" just to be sure. Thanks again.

#19  I was all for letting them rot in a pit of their own filth for our amusement, but the contagion is spreading.

#18   I think it was the Russians who first realized there's no such thing as a peaceful protest.

Except all the ones in the US that don't result in rioting. The back-to-work rallies, TEA party, 2nd Amendment supporters, and so on.

#17  Burn down that tent.

Say it’s very liberating.

#16  Encourage them to move to Chaz. Get all lefties to move to Chaz. Then declare their citizenships voided.

#13  So these folks are using art and musical instruments as a stalking horse?

#12  We should copy the Russians and have laws against "Aggravated hooliganism"

#11  I think it was the Russians who first realized there's no such thing as a peaceful protest. It's either a beatdown, or a rout.

No sense in calling it a protest even. Just plain thuggery against the law. An attempt to create several mini-Culiacáns inside the US... supported fervently by every dirty bastitch in yore vicinity.

#7  Autonomous zone? Sounds like a great place for the non-autonomous to try out the wrist rocket / M-80 combo from a 100 feet away.

Just thinkin' out loud here...

#4  Tennessee leads the nation in electric chair executions. They're good at it. Like Austin and Albuquerque, Nashville is blue in a red state. That's going to be a recipe for disturbance going forward.

#3  The right need to step up and bate them into protesting All Lives Matter etc.

Put the Islam was Right about Women stuff up too.

The MSM won't show it, but showing the MSM won't show the truth will be useful for the future.

#2  Seems like a great opportunity for people on the right to practice blockade tactics.

#1  I believe we may have seen this ("autonomous zone" spreading) predicted by someone at the Burg a day or two ago. Nashville wasn't mentioned as a possibly site outbreak, but here you have it.
