#29  ...you guys had fathers who taught you that you can be right in a confrontation with a cop, dead right. The sperm donors don't hang around to teach their kids those fundamentals of life.

#28  Cop calls me an asshole I say "Yes, sir I am. What do you want this asshole to do now?"

#27  I don't feel a need to get shot at a traffic stop.

#26  I've always felt a good proportion of white privileged is learning to say "Yes officer, no officer" and complying. Yes it sucks to suck it up if the officer is wrong or whatever, but dead is dead, and politeness could get your ticket downgraded into a warning.

#25  Sandwich, cellphone, etc. Your best bet is face down on the ground if LE is pointing guns at you.

#24  Watched a demonstration about how to use a hammer in a fight, with an emphasis on short-handle. It is a weapon as old as warfare itself.

Dudefriend demonstrated how to use pliers in self defense. I was unhappy, even at a very friendly 5% effort.

#23  ^The important thing, he's not black.

#22  Guys, the "shot holding a sandwich" anecdote is from a movie.

And a hammer is a deadly weapon.

#21  Picture from Coeur d'Alene are out; there were those dressed to impress but never saw Dan Wick.

Ever see a Bug-Out Bus? Neither had I. Made that 'dangerous item juggling group' bus covered in Grateful Dead bears look even a bit sillier.

#20  Texas also has "Fair warning."

Noor also fired while his partner was between him and the target, nearly hitting his partner.

#18  My shooting mentor also said, "If you are pointing a 12 gauge at someone, and they know it and do not do what you say, like lay on the ground, shoot them. Cause they are obviously insane and that's fear for your life."

#17  Years ago, I had a discussion with a criminal defense attorney of my acquaintance:

Me: "You ever hear one of those stories about a person who was inside a house at an odd hour, claiming they were 'lost.'"

Attorney: "Yeah, that story comes up."

Me: "Well, if someone is inside my house like that at an odd hour, they are a little more 'lost' than they realize."

Attorney: "My advice? Shoot to kill. Then it's your word against his dead ass..."
Posted by: M. Murcek   2020-06-04 13:59

#16  Now admittedly, someone on my property after dark will get held at gunpoint for police. If they try to get in the house, well, that's another thing.

#15  So, I wrap my Sig up in foil. Now I should be left alone. Really...

#13  #2 Suspected looter, 22, is shot dead by police 'while he was on his knees and had his hands up because cop thought he had a gun but instead turned out to be a hammer'

According to Woody Guthrie, a hammer is a very powerful weapon, so this is fine.

People need to get trained on gun ownership. They need to know the difference between a hero sandwich (wrapped in foil) and a gun or knife. You can't use deadly force with a guy wielding a fucking sandwich.

Are you talking about "what ought to be" or "what is"?

I'm sure you understand that there's a big difference there.

We're not living in "everything must pass the white glove test" times anymore.

#12  In the state of Texas, after dark, I can.

As it should be. Texas also has "Fair warning." Once I give you fair warning you are not welcome on my property, you should stay away. That's how it should be.

#11  Somali cop Noor ran the "I was scared" excuse for shooting Justine Damond. Only reason it didn't work is his colleagues in the PD hated him and hung him out to dry.

#10  You can't use deadly force with a guy wielding a fucking sandwich.

You can't. I can't. A cop just has to say he was scared.

In the state of Texas, after dark, I can. If you are on my property after dark in Texas, you have met the requirement for lethal force.

#4  Belleview, about 50 minutes from me, outside Ocala. Not particularly urban. I'm a vigilante if I have my AR, a Mossberg 500 and a Sig P227 ready if someone starts breaking my windows or tries to set my car on fire in my driveway? Then I am, and I'll be a vigilante everyone will remember for years to come.

#3  Ca$ino, Ace Rothstein voiceover: "They (the cops) shot him in his driveway. They thought he had a gun, but it was a hero sandwich (wrapped in foil in the scene.)
