![]() Production stood at 7 bcf last September, up from 6.8 bcf at the end of June 2019. Rapid growth in Egypt’s natural gas supplies over recent years turned it from a net importer to exporter in late 2018. In January, Egypt began importing gas from Israel as part of efforts to turn itself into a regional gas hub. |

#1 The Egyptian Islamists destroyed the gas pipeline that crossed the Sinai and served Jordan and Israel on innumberable occasions. The attacks led Israel to seek alternative sources. And the rest, they say, is history. |
