Top US watchdog vows 'aggressive' oversight of Trump administration after intel firing
2020-04-05
This will persuade all those deplorables that there’s no such thing as a Deep State for sure.
[AlAhram] The top U.S. federal watchdog vowed on Saturday to continue to conduct "aggressive" independent oversight of government agencies, after President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
fired the inspector general of the U.S. intelligence community late Friday night.

Michael Horowitz, chair of the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE), an independent agency in the executive branch and the inspector general at the Department of Justice, said in a statement that Michael Atkinson was known for his "integrity, professionalism, and commitment to the rule of law and independent oversight."

#15  So now they want to be aggressive. The eight years prior to Trump were laid back time? Gee, wonder why.

#14  He changed the criteria to allow the hearsay evidence

That right there is sufficient cause for his dismissal.

#13  He changed the criteria to allow the hearsay evidence

That right there is the key to the whole mess.

#11  IIRC, Atkinson is the one who accepted a 'whistleblower' report based entirely on hearsay. Good riddance.

#10  After all, if he is "aggressively" watching Trump, it leaves the IC "community" free to play fast and loose, eh?

#9  The demoncrats are going to impeach Trump again anyway. He might as well fully clean house.

#8  He may well have some or all of those lofty qualities. What he apparently lacks is any spectrum of judgement considering the entire situation came down to the president having done nothing illegal or in any way beyond his authority. The entire dilemma distills down to it wasn't what they might have done. That is a waste of time, money, and effort.

#7  Trump did the right thing in dumping Atkinson. Atkinson has never been forthcoming. We've never seen his deposition or testimony behind closed doors in the Schiff Show. We have never heard who the two whistleblowers were in that ginned-up lynching of Trump.

#6  /\ Yes, a valid observation which is consistently proven true.

#5  The only time Dem jackasses pretend to be concerned about how Federal dollars are spent is when it's done by Republicans.

#3  Inspector General's have a "community"? So they are like they IRS?

#2  Michael Horowitz, ... said in a statement that Michael Atkinson was known for his "integrity, professionalism, and commitment to the rule of law and independent oversight."

It was Horowitz's report that criticized Atkinson and placed the noose around his neck. Hypocrite.

BTW, Atkinson's wife is linked to Mary Jacoby (wife of Fusion Glenn Simpson). So much inbreeding in Washington.

#1  "He’s decapitating the leadership of the intelligence community in the middle of a national crisis," he said. "It’s unconscionable, and of course it sends a message throughout the federal government and particular to other inspectors general."

Precisely what needs to be done. Was it not our own intelligence community that attempted to "decapitate" the Orange Man ?
