| #4 Two thirds of the Pakistani Federal revenue goes to service interest payments on debts. The other third goes to military spending. This year like last, the spending on these two items is greater than revenue. Payment of pensions is in the civilian budget but 76% of pensions go to retired military. Those pension payments are equivalent to more than a third of revenue. So Pakistani liabilities exceed revenue. The entire budget is basically being met by borrowing. |
