[Dhaka Tribune] A mentally challenged minor and a five-year-old girl were reportedly raped in separate incidents in two districts.Police on Monday arrested a man named Jahir Molla for reportedly raping a mentally challenged minor in Saltha's Jadunandi village in Faridpur.
The accused, Jahir Molla, 45, allegedly raped the 14-year-old multiple times, taking advantage of her innocence. The father of the victim filed a case after knowing of the incident, police say.
"We took the minor to a hospital for a check-up and sent the accused Jahir to jail through the court," said Saltha police OC Md Ali Jinnah.
In Keraniganj, a five-year-old girl was reportedly raped by a chatpati vendor named Monir Hossain, 60, at Bandadakpara under Keraniganj on Sunday, reports UNB.
The incident took place in the evening when the child went to buy chatpati. The vendor Monir took her to a deserted place and raped her. Hearing her screams, locals rescued the child, caught the rapist and handed him over to the police, according to OC Quazi Mainul Islam of Keraniganj Model cop shoppe.
