| #4 Low energy electron microscopy is O(15KeV), while the ionization energy of rhenium is about 8eV (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ionization_energies_of_the_elements_(data_page) ) This has to be some kind of interference image, looking at tiny electron scatterings. One good kick from an electron would be more than enough to ionize one of the atoms. |
