| From the article: Screw the base by letting Adam Schiff do to the impeachment trial what Senate Democrats did to the Kavanaugh hearings, and Republicans will have hell to pay in November from their own base. It's like the vote on Kavanaugh in that way This has been my concern despite all the "Murder Turtle" and "The Dems done messed up this time!" rhetoric. It's only a problem for the Dems if they don't have the active cooperation of squids like Romney and Murky. To say nothing of the "pragmatic" GOPers who always get hustled by the Donks in these types of negotiations. |

| #4 Judging from the consistent support Trump has at rallies, it is not likely Senate Pubs will pay a price in November. His base seems solid. He seems to be attracting Dems and independents. The faux rigged impeachment hasn't seem to hurt his numbers--if anything, it has helped. Most informed Americans don't like rigging and unfairness. |

| #3 Historically, the 'pubs have a tendency to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Trump and the loss of the house seems to have given them some spine and willingness to fight back, but we'll see. |
