#6 Almost certainly not the "chimp" versions sold to the suckers. |

#5 A most excellent opportunity for a private military contractor. We could call it "War-In-A-Box", one-stop shopping for all your conflict needs. |

#4 /\ Hence the need for pilots, air space operational controllers, and ground based AAA system operators to speak the same language. It's not just a 'nice-to-have' capability. Rules forbidding operators from using 'smart fones' is difficult to enforce. Everyone likes to call home now and then. |

#3 These are fairly sophisticated systems. The operators were likely NOT speaking Arabic. In the civilian world, it's not uncommon for a vendor to have some support people on-site to help with operational issues. If I were an Arab despot, I'd want someone besides my mooks running anything the least bit technical. |

#2 It must be nervous to be a Russian pilot in Syria. |

#1 Likely their 1RL-123E radar systems (depicted in the graphic), but who knows. They've got literally dozens of AAA radars and have the ability to use various systems 'in depth.' These are fairly sophisticated systems. The operators were likely NOT speaking Arabic. Same could possibly be true of RU AAA systems in operation near Tehran. Again, 'possibly.'
