#11  Its a horrible wound; unlike a 'prison wound' where bits are torn and can be sewn back or whatnot, pieces are missing and the Vet can't do anything about such a complex piece of anatomy. So the coyotes around here do a hit a run, then just wait the clock. Happens fast.

So family and I were out fishing one day. Early Spring so calves are still small, only good water hole for a ways, and cows had recently been through. I was on the highest ground doing for lack of a better word, overwatch because wife and small kids are in the fishing. Sun starts to dip and like that classic scene in western movies where everyone is sitting around the camp fire minding their business and Indians start whooping all around the camp, the coyotes announce themselves.

I had counted at least six positions, some positions I considered had more than one occupant, all within 100 yards. I racked about the time my wife sauntered up and said, 'honey, I think its time to go now.'

#8  Probably his food dish was under the patio chairs, swkvolFF.

You know, people today, wouldn't surprise me.

Out here a coyote will try to eat the ass out a calf with momma and cowboy yards away.

Going fishing? Take a rifle, especially if kids and pets are involved.

#7  Someone help my memory. I seem to recall a story about a coyote that jumped a fence in a large yard to get at a kitty cat. Unfortunately the kitty's companion was a cheetah. The Cheetah hit the coyote at top speed ?

#5  We get a lot of missing cat, missing dog, posters in my part of San Diego. De-clawing a cat should be illegal around.

#2  Brave cat. Horrible coyotes. I think one had an ironic beard.

#1  With all due respect to the kitty who does indeed look fearless, the coyotes must be California Democrats.
