Soleimani’s death leaves Iran’s strategy in tatters
2020-01-06
[ArabNews] The killing of Quds Force Commander Qassim Soleimani and Iraqi paramilitary leader Abu-Mahdi al-Muhandis changes everything. With one fell blow Trump has taken out the two dominant figures exporting Iranian militancy across the region.

By killing Soleimani, the US has decapitated the principal agent of Tehran’s strategy for regional hegemony.
Although the furious regime in Tehran will seek a devastating riposte, this operation liquidates the man who for three decades criminal masterminded its regional terrorist strategy. The death of Soleimani ‐ lauded by Iranian leader Ali Khamenei
...the actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini...
as his "living martyr of the revolution" and believed by many to be Khamenei’s likely successor ‐ leaves a gaping vacuum in Iran’s power to mobilize bandidos bully boyz across the region.

(a) There was no 'strategy' to begin with
Sometimes tactics are strategy - see "Fabian strategy".

(b) And Iran's grand strategy is in shambles because USA just delivered a message "We can do Israeli style precision strikes - only with 100 times their resources and 1/1000 their vulnerability to 'World Opinion'.".

#4  Soleimani acquired the nickname Wazir al-Mustawtanat (minister of colonies)

A pity that America's semiliterate, badly-educated fifth columnists (like Colin Shroomhead) don't read the Arab press, or know f-all about Arab and Islamic imperial history.

If they did, they'd see that we're the anti-imperialist power in the region. Islamic Iran = the neo-imperialist wannabe power.

Language is important, and letting bad folds get away with defining language is a terrible idea.
The creeps in Iran constantly refer to us as the Big Satan and ISrael as the Small Satan, Trump should retaliate by calling Khameni the 'Pathetic Satan' or something like that, over and over again. Why should we accept the notion that we are Satans/ Two can play at that game.

#2  Disagree, the strategy is to take Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and due to Western Left repugnant views they will take it.

#1  There was no 'strategy' to begin with, just a bunch of distributed efforts to thwart the US and Israel, actuating revolts and terrorist attacks on competitors. Soleimani was literally winging it as he went and the leadership assumed he had a plan. The mistake was conflating national interest with religious, communal dogma.
