TAIPEI (Reuters) - Taiwan’s top military official was among eight people killed on Thursday, after a helicopter carrying them to visit soldiers crashed in a mountainous area near the capital Taipei, the defense ministry said. |

#2 Had the unfortunate experience. Someone on the preflight check failed to insure the oil flow valve was in the open position. Fortunately, the pilot kicked the rotors into neutral and autogyrated to a safe landing. S**t happens. |

#1 Yes, I was waiting for this to show up. There are several conspiracy theories doing the rounds. Chinese death rays igniting the fuel, or frying circuitry in the blackhawk chopper; a bomb on board; the Russians did it... and so on. The truth may be, it was just not great weather to make the trip. |
