Is Iran Quietly Infiltrating Congress Through Democrats Like Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib?
2019-12-24

[PJ] - Earlier this month, House Democrats sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, urging sanctions relief for Iran. Among other things, they criticized "the designation of Iran's Central Bank under terror authorities," arguing that "the efficacy of sanctions is questionable." An organization long described as a front group for the Iran regime sponsored the letter and has embedded staffers with many of the letter's supporters in Congress, including Reps. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.).

"Is Iran’s regime quietly infiltrating Congress?" M. Hanif Jazayeri, news editor at Free Iran, asked on Twitter. He pointed out that many of these congresswomen hired current or former staffers with the National Iranian-American Council (NIAC), an organization with many links to Iran's regime and which Iran state-media has described as "Iran's lobby" in the U.S.

#10  Personally, I think it's self-inflicted.

#9  No doubt the updated equivalent of what one of our self described betters referred to as 'dragging a hundred dollar bill through a trailer camp'.

#6   As loud-mouthed as the squad is

See Protective Coloration.

The louder they are, the harder we reject them, the more reasonable a insidious moderate appears.

#5  More aggressive since their infiltration of the Whitehouse was disrupted by a trump.

#4  As loud-mouthed as the squad is, I'm not sure "quietly" is the word...

#3  Passing the Iran Review Act amounted to a de facto ratification of Obama's Iran deal.

The vote, in 2015, was 98-1 and 400-25

Omar and Tlaib are symptoms of Western masochism, not causes.

#2  same people who say, with respect to Iran that ' the efficacy of sanctions is questionable' are big supporters of sanctions on Israel

#1  Good catch. Let's get our FBI on it straight away. If they're not too busy with other matters, of course...
