#6 Erdogan has military commitments in Syria, east Africa, Qatar and now Libya. and to work these he has a military that has been hurt badly by his anti Gulan purge and on top of that he has a shaky economy and, although not much money, he has been indirectly funding some American politicians, notably Ilhan Omar |

#5 The differential birthrate problem means the Turks have a limited window — a generation or less, according to President Erdogan himself — within which to accomplish their neo-Ottoman sultanate. After that the Kurds will inherit it by providing the babies the Turks have not had. Very much what the Palestinians have planned, except their baby numbers are imaginary and their total population claims ignore consistently high levels of emigration since 1948. |
