India issues terror alert for Jewish, Israeli targets on Yom Kippur

[IsraelTimes] Jerusalem said to be working with Indian counterparts to thwart any potential attack; security increased at embassy, synagogues and other sites.

Authorities in India have warned of a potential terror attack on Jewish or Israeli targets on Yom Kippur, which begins Tuesday night.

According a Channel 12 news report on Friday, Israeli security services are working with their Indian counterparts to thwart any potential attack over the Jewish holiday period, which runs until October 21.

The Israeli embassy in New Delhi, synagogues, Chabad buildings, Jewish schools, restaurants and hotels known as popular destinations among Israeli travelers have all been put on high alert with increased security.

The Times of India reported last month that there were fears an attack could be carried out on a Jewish target by a cell affiliated with either the al-Qaeda or Islamic State

The report said the alert was issued on the basis of intelligence received from the security agencies of other countries. No further details were given.

You should visit Dharmkot some time. Don't waste your time anywhere else in India, it's all colorful hubris reeking of piss anyway. Go straight to Himachal and you'll see what I mean.

#3  It's not that they couldn't shoot, TW. They were just tied down by our own DeBlasios. Railway police have now their own commando unit trained by the army. The regular peters did have weapons, just old SMLEs and 9mm sten guns. And morale not worth the tobacco spit they're full of. These boys and girls are different.

The Israelis who come here after blooding ? They go straight up to the weed filled himalayas, they are in no mood to talk shop for a while.

It became so much of a problem in fact that some Israeli veterans through an NGO (Natal) tied up with a psychiatric Hospital in Himachal Pradesh to help divert doped out youngsters to get up off the ground and try using conventional therapies for 'unwinding'.

Incidentally, a contingent of security for the Israeli community up at Dharamkot were granted a limited carry permit for Indian army issued Tavors, for the period of Oct to Nov.

The police are now being issued bullets for their guns, and being taught to shoot? A big change from the 2008 Lashkar-e-Taiba rampage in Mumbai, which we watched from afar. I’m very glad.

Prayers for you all to come through this month without any serious incidents.

A thought for future pondering: perhaps you could deputize those Israelis there on holiday who’ve gone through their military training — it would be an interesting surprise for the jihadis...

A guy was shot at a train station for shouting 'Ally whoos' yesterday. Two burqas were caught entering a restaurant owned by a jewish family. They walked funny for gals, and they turned out to be two gay guys meeting secretly. One of them was Israeli. Oh gawd, why !

Let's hope we don't fail our religious Jew friends. I don't think Modi would like that. I have a friend in Force One, Bombay. He says the security is pretty thin. We depend more on communal deterrence these days. But the lone wolves are hardly responsible people. They won't care if our trident carrying hordes descend later upon the masjids. The best way to protect against it is to keep muslims at 'survival stage' perpetually.

I'm so glad Diwali is also in october, so the highest security is on.
