260 Security Incidents Reported On Election Day: Security Sources
2019-09-30
[ToloNews] The Afghan government had deployed over 72,000 security force members to provide security for the election process.

Over 260 security incidents were reported during Saturday’s presidential election, security sources said, saying that 90 of the incidents directly targeted the polling centers.

These sources told TOLOnews that over 20 coppers and nine non-combatants were killed as a result of these incidents, while 37 coppers and 70 civilians were maimed.

The Afghan government had deployed over 72,000 security force members to provide security for the election process.

"We thwarted the majority of the enemies’ plans so they were not able to disrupt the election process. The Afghan people should be proud of their officers who stood up against them," said Hassan Hairan, an officer of Kabul Garrison.

"The Afghan people managed to go to the polling stations and vote for their favorite candidates," said Nangyalai, an Afghan military officer.

"After the completion of the election process, we will expand our clearance operations so that our people can live in a peaceful environment," said acting defense minister Assadullah Khalid.

The Kabul police reported that at least 11 security incidents occurred in Kabul, during which ten people were maimed.
