Libya’s Haftar announces halt to military operations during Eid al-Adha | |

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The chief of the eastern-based Libyan National Army (LNA), Khalifa Haftar![]() , announced on Saturday a halt to military operations during the Moslem Eid al-Adha holiday, which lasts from Saturday until Tuesday, according to a statement from his forces in Benghazi. On Friday, the UN-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) which is based in Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... said it had accepted a UN proposal for a ceasefire during the holiday period. UNSMIL will be responsible for monitoring any violations, the Tripoli government said.
Therefore it said it "accepted a humanitarian truce for Eid al-Adha," which will be celebrated in Libya on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. But it listed "four conditions". It said the ceasefire must be observed "in all combat zones, with a cessation of direct and indirect fire and movement of troops". It said the truce must include "a ban on flights and reconnaissance overflights across the entire (Libyan) airspace as well as a halt to flights from airbases". | |
