Turkey or US behind attack on Syrian oil pipelines in Mediterranean |

[ALMASDARNEWS] Syria’s oil pipelines off the coast of Tartous recently came under attack by an unknown entity in the eastern Mediterranean. While no group or country has grabbed credit for the attack, Syria’s al-Watan publication, citing Russian Today and Eurasia Daily, reported that the earth-shattering kabooms at the oil pipelines were not an accident. The report said the pictures showing the aftermath of the earth-shattering kaboom indicates that they were detonated. "The pictures show that the pipelines were not accidentally damaged, but rather, were detonated. The importance of these lines is that they supply the Banias oil refinery with raw materials from tankers, and are now the main source of strategic energy in Syria. They would go on to say that those responsible for the attack were either the United States ‐ who have imposed sanctions against Syria ‐ or neighboring ![]() . According to the publication, Turkey may have retaliated against Syria for their attack on the "This may be a kind of response to the bombing (observation post) in Idlib without any risk of escalation. Turkey has very good divers in intelligence and special units," they added. |
