#13 Profound apologies. Right there in the Breitbart bit, clear as day. Ouch. |

#12 Didn't see those details in Mail article or Breitbart story it links to (pardon my preposition). Irrelevant autobiographical anecdote: There I sat, safe in my own living room... or so I thought. Unloading. My eyes on patrol. A doorknob, and... BLAMMO. A hole. Anxiety wracked me. Aha! It attacked me! But no one had heard my own goal. "Couple of vintage glass numbers, I think, and the big brassy sumbitch that gave me this lump. Didn't get a good look, but I'm pretty sure I hit that one. And then they all took off." |

#11 Nobody said they walked away. They went to get help or parts for a failed piece of surveillance equipment. The three assailants tried to pull the guy left with the surveillance equipment out of the enclosure. You MIGHT just try reading the article at the above link. |

#10 Fair enough, but there were (reportedly) 3 in the van and 2 walked away - leaving their single buddy behind left in harms way. With the doors unlocked. |

#9 Did no one one have a radio? Something smells funny with this one. A mugging can happen pretty fast. |

#7 Officers? Doubtful. If 2 of the patrol left the vehicle then he wasn't with 2 other "officers". |

#6 The marine was wjth two other officers. The vehicle broke down. Be was left behind to stay with the disabled vehicle while the other two went for help. He was in a windowless enclosed monitoring part of the vehicle when the three bad guys opened the enclosures door and the confrontation began. They ran when he fired his weapon while they were struggling with him over his weapon. |

#5 Perhaps the Orange Man can help to adjust the ROE. |

#4 Should be a two man crew. Both with side arms and the passenger with a shotgun. Any attack on them should be met with deadly force. |

#3 The article quotes a Breitbart report: 'During the struggle, the Marine fired his pistol one time, striking the forward-looking infrared display unit mounted on the dash. The attackers fled at that point.' So he was armed, and did fire. |

#2 I can only observe that if you're not armed, you're not patrolling. I fear, though hope otherwise, that this is another modified 'Peace Keeper' effort. The kind where DC sends too many to die , too few to accomplish, tells them 'dress up in those scary, scary clothes and oh, yeah...no bullets for you!' |

#1 Why was he by himself? The term 'shotgun' comes to mind, as in riding (as well as armed). |
