Turkish-backed rebels send large convoy of reinforcements to retake lost areas in northwest Hama
2019-05-20
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Ottoman Turkish-backed Euphrates Shield operation room sent a large number of reinforcements to the Hama-Idlib axis, today, as they look to retake all of the areas that were lost to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

According to a report from northwestern Syria, the Euphrates Shield forces were redeployed from the neighboring governorate Aleppo, where they previously led the attack to capture the Afrin region from the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG).

The Euphrates Shield forces are not only battle-tested, but they are also well armed and well trained. Their experience in the Afrin region has helped them develop into a strong force that is capable of fighting in the rugged areas of Syria.

Two weeks ago, the Syrian Arab Army launched a large-scale offensive to seize the remaining areas under turban control in northwestern Hama. The offensive would prove successful as the Syrian Army and their allies were able to seize many areas, including the two turban strongholds of Kafr Naboudeh and Qal’al al-Madiq.

On Saturday, a temporary ceasefire was announced between the Syrian Arab Army and the Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels in the Idlib and Hama governorates. However,

shortly after the announcement of the ceasefire, the two warring parties exchanged hostilities across the Hama-Idlib axis.
