| #8 When I started out as a reporter, one of the bottom rung tasks was to call all the area hospitals for nightly admit / discharge lists. People in Fayette County, Pee Aye (Fayette Nam to the locals) talked funny. One night I was taking down the list over the phone and the girl said Thomas blubblubblub. I asked here to repeat herself and got the same thing. I said, "you are going to have to spell that one for me." She said, S-M-I-T-H, blubblubblub." I said, "Uh, OK..." |
