| #7 I see this as an attempt to increase the percentage of rent able to be extracted from the economy. I'd have no problem with this if this was a citizens dividend (i.e no guaranteed sum) funded by property title value tax (i.e. not on the building). But one based on taxing incomes to fund something to boost incomes (which are then taxed more) smacks of trying to shift more wealth into rent. |

| #3 This has been tried. It has failed horribly everywhere it has existed. A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship |
