| #1 It would have been easier if her husband hadn’t abandoned the family after the last ones were conceived. Easier still if the woman’s family — or her husband’s family — rallied round to help, but her mother died after she was born, and then her stepmother murdered the elder siblings. Easiest of all if she’d been able to get her tubes tied or her husband had a vasectomy, but the non-wealthy in Nigeria do not have such options. |
