Another line they cut into: Illegals get free public housing as impoverished Americans wait
2019-04-19
[American Thinker] Want some perspective on why so many blue sanctuary cities have so many homeless encampments hovering around?

Try the reality that illegal immigrants are routinely given free public housing by the U.S., based on the fact that they are uneducated, unskilled, and largely unemployable. Those are the criteria, and now importing poverty has never been easier. Shockingly, this comes as millions of poor Americans are out in the cold awaiting that housing that the original law was intended to help.

Thus, the tent cities, and by coincidence, the worst of these emerging shantytowns are in blue sanctuary cities loaded with illegal immigrants - Orange County, San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, New York...Is there a connection? At a minimum, it's worth looking at.

The Trump administration's Department of Housing and Urban Development is finally trying to put a stop to it as 1.5 million illegals prepare to enter the U.S. this year, and one can only wonder why they didn't do it yesterday.

#6  Those damn Rethuglicans....oh, wait

More evidence the Republicans hate poor people. And immigrants. Especially poor immigrants. Of color.

OK, it's not 'evidence' evidence. But we don't need evidence to know what we know because we already know it. QED, bitches!

#4  Wait. You mean migrants are getting housing when historically-disadvantaged city dwellers wait?

#3  As much as I oppose illegal immigration, we have a homeless problem because we do not enforce our vagrancy laws. My understanding is that some judge blocked said enforcement because municipalities don't provide enough "affordable housing".

Affordable housing is a phrase that triggers me in the worst way. In San Diego, in most if not all of San Diego County, affordable housing is impossible unless the definition of affordable is stretched beyond all recognition. The minute this county's property taxes are imposed, affordability flies out the window. Besides that, the people that you see sleeping in tents on sidewalks, in river valleys and under bridges will never be able to afford anything more than a bottle of cheap wine, cigarettes or a hit of meth. They are simply no damn good for anything else. And so, we are told, we must tolerate their urine and feces and used needles in the streets, their diseases, their panhandling and the trash they strew about their little encampments.

Illegal immigrants may be uneducated and unskilled but they are motivated and they will work. That doesn't mean I believe we should provide housing for them. California's politicians chant "affordable housing" like some kind of a mantra. Their solution is to turn this whole state into a slum. They think everybody in the whole wide world who wants to live here should be able to do so and that those of us who already live here should be happy to sacrifice our quality of life to enable them. Bullshit. Coastal California is prime real estate. It was never meant for people who are too lazy and/or stupid to buy into it. If you want to live here you must work hard and work smart. You must compete for the kind of a job that will allow you to pay for it. Nobody, not the government or anybody else, owes it to you.

There is plenty of room out in the desert for affordable housing.
