Turkish Army attacks Kurdish forces in northern Aleppo

[AlMasdar] The Turkish Army carried out a new attack against the Kurdish forces in the northern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate on Monday.

According to a report from Aleppo, the Turkish Army heavily shelled the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) at the small-townof Khaljibrin this afternoon.

This attack by the Turkish Army on the YPG forces came shortly after their Air Force conducted reconnaissance flights over the Aleppo Governorate.

So far, no casualties have been reported; however, the Kurdish forces are now retaliating with their own barrage of artillery shells in northern Aleppo.

Turkish warplanes enter Syrian airspace amid increased violence in Aleppo

[AlMasdar] (1:50 P.M.) – A number of Turkish warplanes were spotted flying over Syria’s Aleppo Governorate this afternoon as the situation in northern Syria continues to deteriorate.

According to a military source in Aleppo city, the Turkish warplanes were seen flying over the demilitarized zone in southwest Aleppo and the areas controlled by the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) near the Al-Raqqa border.

In particular, the source said a Turkish warplane was flying over the demilitarized zone around the Rashiddeen suburb, and the towns of Khan Al-Assal and Khan Touman.

While the Turkish jets did fly over the Syrian military’s positions in Aleppo, there is an agreement between the armed forces of Russia and Turkey to monitor the demilitarized zone in northwestern Syria.

Furthermore, the Turkish Air Force informs the Russian military that they intend to enter Syrian airspace, which lowers the Syrian air defense’s alert levels in northern Syria.

The Turkish Air Force has been conducting these overflights since the start of the new year; they have yet to encounter any resistance from the Syrian military.
