Trump Administration Approves Sale of F-16s to Taiwan
2019-03-16
[FreeBeacon] The Trump administration has approved the sale of dozens of new F-16 jet fighters to Taiwan, the first major warplane sale to the island state in nearly 30 years.
Doesn't give a fuck what China thinks!
The inter-agency decision, to be announced in the near future, authorized the sale of up to 66 F-16V jet fighters at an estimated cost of $13 billion, according to administration officials familiar with internal discussions.

The jets are among several new weapons systems, including missiles, that are part of the administration's latest arms sale to Taiwan, a key U.S. partner in the Asia Pacific region.

#11  Thanks TW.

I agree. Some F-15Xs to go with this would make Taiwan be able to control the air over their island instead of a aerial stalemate that would happen now.

China has more fighters than Taiwan, but most are older and have pretty crappy technology. Combined with the anti-air that Taiwan has, the air superiority battle would be pretty close to a draw.

#10  That Trump fella is sure a Commie-appeasing Putin's boy, isn't he?

#9  Would have liked to see a few squadrons of F-15X go to Taiwan. A whole new set of targets in China then opens up. Also 20+ air-air missiles come in handy when outnumbered in a defensive air battle.

#8  We can roll it over easily, DarthVader. Had it been noticed early enough, it could have been unpublished and thrown back in the hopper — but rolling it over is the next best thing.

#7  There are big Chinese bounties for defectors who take their aircraft with them. I hope the Taiwanese are pretty good about figuring out who should get to fly their latest equipment. The F-16V has state of the art equipment on board. I would have preferred the C/D variant. Singapore's pretty good about internal security despite the fact that 70% of its population is ethnic Chinese. That's why it's part of the F-35 program and has an order in the pipeline for the most expensive STOVL variant. Taiwan, not so much.

#6  Nvidia is a US company.

#5  NVidia is probably more beneficial to the US economy than some badly made fungible fraudulent goods to sell on ebay.

#4  Look at the bright side, China - it wasn't F-22's & F-35's. At least this time.
