Suicide attack kills 27 members of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard
2019-02-15
[France24] A suicide bomber killed 27 members of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards on Wednesday, state media said, in a southeastern region where security forces are facing a rise in attacks by militants from the country’s Sunni Muslim minority.

The Sunni group Jaish al Adl (Army of Justice),
...the successor organization to Jundullah. On the Pakistani side of the border they hang out with the Taliban and Al Qaeda...
which says it seeks greater rights and better living conditions for the ethnic minority Baluchis, claimed responsibility for the attack, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

The heavy losses among Iran’s premier military force prompted a senior Revolutionary Guards commander to issue a warning to the country’s foes.

"Our response in defence of the Islamic Revolution will not be limited to our borders," Ali Fadavi was quoted as saying by Fars.

"The enemies will receive a very firm response from the Revolutionary Guards like before." He did not specify which enemies or what actions Tehran would take.

In the past Iran has accused its regional rival, Sunni Arab Saudi Arabia, of supporting Sunni separatist groups who have attacked its security forces. Riyadh has denied the charges.

Iran’s Shi’ite Muslim authorities say militant groups operate from safe havens in Pakistan and have repeatedly called on the neighbouring country to crack down on them.

A suicide bomber driving a vehicle laden with explosives attacked a bus transporting members of the Guards, the force said in a statement. Thirteen people were wounded.

#9  I was thinking more along the lines of -

One death is a tragedy;

{however, Joe Stalin said] one million is a statistic. /joseph_stalin_137476

#8  If there is another revolution in the USA, suicide bombing will be part of it because drones and infrared will make small group warfare almost suicide. Robots will put many people out of work in the near future and the elites do not care. People who cannot support their families will revolt. France is the first indication of this!

#6  The comments, of course, not the tragedy of the suicide or related fatalities.

But it isn’t a tragedy, Bobby. It is an act of war between combatants, where both parties are fighting on the side of evil. Different evils, to be sure, but this is a smaller version of Nazis vs. Soviets.

#5  Bobby, I respect your sentiment, and in this day and age we all do have to cover our a$$e$. However: They picked their side, and if their family couldn't talk hem out of that, or worse, encouraged it, they bought in and they get the dividend they deserved.

If Iraqis rid themselves of Saddam, if the Iranians rid themselves of the mullahs, if the Afghans rid themselves of the taliban... I could go on but I think the point is made clear.
