[Dhaka Tribune] A suspect accused in multiple cases, including robbery, died in an alleged shootout with police at Dharmapur in Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning.The dear departed has been identified as Shahidul Islam Babul alias Koshai Babul.
Feni Model cop shoppe OC Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the matter, adding that the police had received information regarding a robbery in Dharmapur border area and conducted a raid.
The OC said: "Spider senses tingling at the proximity of police, the gang of robbers opened fire. In self-defence, police fired back, causing the gang to fall back and flee the scene. Later, police recovered Babul’s bullet-hit body from the scene."
Police also found a pistol, three rounds of bullets and two magazines, he added.
The body was taken to Feni Sadar Hospital, and then sent to the morgue for an appointment with Dr. Quincy.
Babul had been a suspect in a total of eight cases, including murder, robbery and arms possession.
