#2 In 2003 Turkey blocked its land route to open a northern front in the Iraq war. So US troop ships were stuck offshore of the port of Iskenderun, Turkey. Turkey's sympathy for Sunnis led to the creation of ISIS and the fall of Mosul. Erdogan's goal is not to fight ISIS, but Kurds which in their eyes is the real problem. When Turkey invades Syria to go after the Kurds ISIS will be able to make a comeback since the Kurds can't fight both Turkish troops and ISIS at the same time. |
